Work continues to enhance both habitat and visitor experience at Wavecrest Open Space. As part of recent restoration efforts along the Wavecrest Trail Extension, volunteers and staff seeded rare Choris’s popcorn flower in former casual trail areas that were restored last fall—supporting native plants while helping guide foot traffic back to designated trails.
In addition, new split rail fencing has been installed around the parking lots. This fencing helps clearly define parking areas, protect sensitive habitat, and improve overall safety and flow for visitors accessing the trail system.
These updates reflect our ongoing commitment to thoughtful trail design that balances public access with long-term stewardship of Wavecrest’s coastal landscape. We look forward to seeing the trail—and the habitat around it—continue to thrive.
