What a Morning! Thank You for Joining the Running of the Goats

Thank you to everyone who came out this morning to cheer on the annual Running of the Goats!

Approximately 100 community members of all ages gathered at the corner of Railroad Avenue and Poplar Street to watch one of the Coastside's most beloved traditions. The stars of the show? About 500 enthusiastic goats from Star Creek Land Stewards, who made their way into the Railroad right-of-way and are now happily munching away on invasive vegetation as part of an important planned grazing project.

The event was filled with smiles, laughter, wagging tails, and plenty of memorable moments. Attentive observers were treated to an unexpected bonus performance as swallows swooped and darted overhead, taking advantage of the insect buffet stirred up by the goats. After months of undisturbed growth in this area, the sudden arrival of 500 hungry landscapers sent insects into the air, creating a feast for these agile aerial hunters and a wonderful reminder of how connected our local ecosystems truly are.

We're grateful to everyone who joined us to celebrate this unique partnership between conservation and community.

Stay tuned for more photos and videos from the event—and get ready for one of our favorite traditions: the return of our "Vote-a-Goat" contest! Soon you'll have the chance to cast your vote for your favorite goat personality, hairstyle, horns, ears, or overall goat charm.

Stop by and check out their progress over the next few days!

Help us keep this fun tradition going! Please consider donating to support bringing the goats back to the Railroad Right of Way next year.
